FAQs
Have questions? You’re not alone.
Whether you’re new here or just need a quick refresher, we’ve gathered the most common questions we hear and answered them below. From day of details to creating a Player Profile, you’ll find helpful info right here.
What's a Player Profile
A Player Profile is your personal gaming ID for SoDak Circuit. It holds your important information like your name, age group, game choices, and contact info so you’re ready to compete. Think of it as your custom gamer badge that helps streamline your experience on Game Day.
Why do I need a Player Profile
A Player Profile helps streamline your check-in process and enhances your experience on Game Day. It also provides our Team Leads an estimate of how many players would like to participate.
Can I create a Player Profile if I'm not sure which game I want to play yet?
Yes! You can create your Player Profile now and update your game selections later. It’s better to have your profile ready so you can check in quickly and stay in the loop with all event updates.
Can I come the day of the event without a Player Profile?
If you’d like to check out SoDak Circuit as a spectator, there is no need to create a Player Profile. If you or your child is interested in participating in a gaming bracket, you will need Player Profile. On the day of the event, make sure to arrive early to check-in to get one of our limited bracket spots. If you’re reading this on game day, arrive early and you can get your Player Profile at check-in.
Does a Player Profile guarantee me a spot in the event?
No. Everyone who creates a Player Profile needs to check-in starting when the doors open on Oct. 11 at the Sioux Falls Convention Center. Because this is a free event, participants will not be confirmed to receive a spot until they check in. Once a game’s spots are filled, no more entrants will be accepted. Doors open at 7:30am, Registration begins at 8:30am, Bracketed tournament play commences at 9:30am.
Does every player need to have their own email/log in to register?
One person from every team, family or individual Player Profile will need an email address. Creating a Player Profile as an individual requires an email address. Creating a Player Profile as a family requires only the parent/guardian’s email address. Creating a Player Profile as a team requires the team lead’s email address.
Do all three players have to register for the 3 vs. 3 Rocket League and Valorant tournaments?
In both of the 3v3 team events, only the captain will create a Player Profile but the entire team must check in together on Game Day. If you’re interested in playing Rocket League or Valorant and don’t have a full team of 3, there will be a “find a teammate” area on Game Day where you can seek out individuals to complete your team. Arrive early for the best chance.
I would like to register for a team game. Will you pair me with other players?
Unfortunately, we can not pair any individuals up for team games. We are, however, providing a “find a teammate” area on Game Day where individuals or teams looking to fill a spot can arrive early and mingle to find players. Doors open at 7:30am and we suggest arriving early if you’re looking for teammates. No pairing guarantees for placement.
Is this event going to have keyboard and mouses? Is this going to be console or PC?
Our event is being played on the following:
Rocket League – PC
Fortnite – PC with keyboard and mouse, Xbox, and PS5
Valorant – PC with keyboard and mouse
Mario Kart 8 – Nintendo Switch wired Switch Pro Controllers
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate – Nintendo Switch with wired GameCube or wired Switch Pro Controllers
Do I need to bring anything?
No, you do not. We will have all the gaming equipment, headsets and controllers you need to have this fun day. Some games will let you bring your own equipment, so be sure to check out their game rules page.
What equipment will we be using and can I bring my own?
Every game will be using different equipment. Please see the link to the game you’re interested in playing to see what specific equipment will be available. This year some games will allow players to bring their own equipment. Check game rules to find out which games are allowing players to bring their own equipment. No drivers or software install will be allowed.
Can I register for more than one game?
Each participant can register and play one bracketed game plus Fortnite, the Custom Racing Simulator, Table Top RPGs and the Cosplay Competition.
How long will matches last?
Each game and match will take a different amount of time. Game play is scheduled to run through 9:30am to 5pm.
Will there be anything to eat or drink?
The Sioux Falls Convention Center will have concessions open during this event so grab a snack and drink while you’re here. Outside food and drink will not be allowed.
How long should I be prepared to be there?
You should plan on arriving early to check-in to play the game you’re interested in. Doors open at 7:30am with registration opening at 8:30am. Game play will commence at 9:30am. The time you will be playing will depends on how you progress through the brackets. Game play is anticipated to end at 5pm.
How old do kids need to be to attend without a guardian?
All minor children should have a guardian present.
I'm not that good, but I love the games you're playing! Should I still attend?
Absolutely! We would love for you to come and participate or watch the games. If you’d like to play, create a Player Profile and arrive early for check-in. If you want to watch, there is no need to register.
Is there a way to watch the event online?
We will not be streaming this event live this year. If you’d like to view the event, please join us in person!
There is no Player Profile for the driving simulator. How do I participate in it?
Registration for the driving simulator will be done the day of the event and Player Profile is not required.
